Barber near Orvin and Frinvillier
Orvin, Ilfingen in German, lies in a Jura valley about eight kilometres north of Biel. Via Frinvillier or Evilard you'll reach GYAN on Zentralstrasse 22 in roughly a quarter of an hour.
A Jura valley just over the hill
Orvin, Ilfingen in German, is a French-speaking village in the Bernese Jura. It lies in a valley north of Biel, behind the slope where Evilard and Magglingen sit. Around the village there are meadows, pastures and forest, and above it lie the Prés-d'Orvin, an open upland that's great for hiking and, in winter, for cross-country skiing. The valley feels rural, but Biel is still the nearest centre for work, shopping and much else. The station, the city-centre shops and plenty of jobs are all down in town, so the road leads there almost by itself, and often.
Two roads down into town
From Orvin, two routes lead to Biel. One runs down the valley to Frinvillier, Friedliswart in German, and on through the Taubenloch gorge into the east of the city. The gorge road is also the main link towards Sonceboz. The other climbs over to Evilard and then drops down the slope into the centre. Allow about a quarter of an hour for the roughly eight kilometres, depending on route and traffic. In the centre you can park in a public car park.
Without a car, take the bus down to Biel station. From there it's a few minutes' walk to Zentralstrasse 22.
Hair and beard in one visit
If you're coming down from the valley specially, you'll want to make the most of it. The GYAN Classic package gets you haircut and beard together in about 30 minutes. No beard, but after a properly smooth face? The hot towel shave is your pick: lather, blade and aftercare in about 20 minutes. And if you want to know how to style your hair at home afterwards, the GYAN Signature Cut shows you the right product and technique in about 25 minutes.
