Beard barber in Biel – shape, lines and a hot towel

A well-kept beard changes a whole face. At GYAN in Biel we get your beard into shape – with clean lines, the right length and, if you like, a classic wet shave.

The beard as part of the look

A beard doesn't grow into shape on its own. It needs a clean neckline, neat cheek lines and a length that suits your face. A round face benefits from a little more length at the chin, a narrow face from more fullness at the sides. When we do a beard trim at GYAN, we pay close attention to this – and to how your beard works with your haircut.

Trim, line up, shave

Our beard care starts with shaping the length using clippers and scissors. Then we set the lines: at the neck, on the cheeks and around the mouth. Where precision matters, the blade comes in. If you want the beard off completely, or simply crave the feeling of a real shave, choose the hot towel shave: the warm towel opens the pores, the lather softens the skin and the shave feels noticeably smoother.

A beard looks best when it's planned together with the haircut. With the GYAN Classic package of haircut and beard, the fade at the temples flows seamlessly into your beard – more on that on our fade haircut page. For the full experience there's the GYAN Full Service: haircut, beard, face treatment, wash and styling, without any rush.

Tips between visits

Wash your beard with a mild shampoo and use a few drops of beard oil so skin and hair don't dry out. Comb it daily in the direction of growth. And leave the lines to us rather than experimenting yourself – a slipped line takes weeks to grow back.

Many men give up on growing a beard around week three or four, because it itches and looks messy. That's exactly when a visit pays off: with a light shaping cut and clean lines, your beard looks groomed even while it's growing, and it's easier to stick with it. We deliberately leave length where the beard will need fullness later and only remove what's in the way. Patchy growth has solutions too: a slightly shorter length and well-placed lines make a beard look denser. And if you're unsure whether stubble, a short full beard or a clean shave suits you best, you'll get an honest assessment from us – based on your face shape, your haircut and how much effort you want to put in at home. In the end, a good beard isn't about length but about shape.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I get my beard trimmed?

For sharp lines, every two to three weeks. If you're growing your beard longer, a shaping cut every four to six weeks is often enough.

What's the difference between a beard trim and a hot towel shave?

A beard trim shapes the length and lines. A hot towel shave removes the beard, fully or in sections, with a blade.

Can I book a haircut and beard together?

Yes, that's our GYAN Classic package of haircut and beard. Add a wash and styling and it's the GYAN Premium package, and the most complete option is the GYAN Full Service, which also includes a face treatment.

Do I need an appointment for a beard trim?

No. During opening hours Zana and the team also serve walk-in clients. For a fixed slot with no waiting, book online – confirmation is instant.
