Safnern lies at the foot of the Büttenberg, about eight kilometres east of Biel. Drive in via Orpund, or take the bus to Biel station, a few minutes from GYAN.
Between the Büttenberg and the Aare plain
Safnern lies east of Biel, tucked against the wooded Büttenberg. On one side the forest, on the other the wide, flat plain stretching towards the Aare. The village is quiet and rural, yet Biel is close enough for work, shopping or a trip to the barber. It's about eight kilometres to our salon at Zentralstrasse 22.
Into town via Orpund
By car, the route from Safnern runs through Orpund into central Biel. Allow about 20 minutes depending on traffic, and park in one of the public car parks in the city centre. Without a car, take the bus to Biel station and walk the last few minutes.
For cyclists the ride is a pleasant one: mostly flat across the plain, past Orpund. Leave a little extra time so you arrive relaxed.
Half an hour that's all yours
Coming in from quiet village life, there's no need to rush. At GYAN it's not just about a quick cut. The hot towel shave is a traditional wet shave with lather, a hot towel and aftercare, taking about 20 minutes. The GYAN Face Treatment focuses on a hot towel, cleansing and skin care. There's also the straightforward men's haircut with consultation, scissors and clippers. We work with scissors, clippers and razor, and take time to talk before the first snip. You'll sit in a brown leather chair, with a red Persian carpet on the wall.
When it suits you best
On Saturdays we open at 8:30am and close at 6pm, perfect for an unhurried appointment. During the week we're open Monday to Wednesday 9am to 7pm, and Thursday and Friday until 8pm. The salon is closed on Sundays.
