How Often Should Men Get a Haircut? A Guide for Biel

How often should a man get a haircut? The right rhythm for each cut, from skin fade to mullet, plus how to book smart in Biel: online or as a walk-in.

The honest answer to "How often should I get a haircut?" is: it depends on your cut. A sharp skin fade loses its edge much faster than a side part with some length. Here is our guide to keeping your hair looking exactly the way you want, without coming in too often or too rarely.

Why rhythm matters

On average, hair grows about one centimetre a month. On long hair you barely notice. On a cut where the sides are only a few millimetres long, though, one centimetre changes the whole picture. The shorter and more precise your cut, the shorter the gap between visits should be.

The right interval for your cut

  • Skin fade and high fade: every two to three weeks. The blend down to the skin is the first thing to grow out. More on the skin fade.
  • Low or mid fade with some length: every three to four weeks.
  • Taper, textured crop, classic short cut: every four to five weeks.
  • Side part and medium-length cuts: every five to six weeks.
  • Longer hair and the modern mullet: every six to eight weeks, to keep the shape and the ends healthy.
  • Beard: lines every three to four weeks, often easiest combined with your haircut.

These are guidelines. If your hair grows very fast or you want to look especially sharp for a big occasion, come in earlier.

Between appointments. How long a cut stays fresh also depends on how you style it at home. With the GYAN Signature Cut we style your hair and show you how best to style it yourself, tailored to your hair and your routine.

How to book smart

A little planning makes it easy to stick to your rhythm:

  • Book online: our online booking secures you a fixed time slot with no waiting. You see free slots instantly and get your confirmation by email.
  • Plan your next visit early: if your cut needs refreshing every three weeks, book the next appointment shortly after your current one.
  • Walk in: Zana and the team also welcome clients without an appointment during opening hours, and walk-in prices for haircuts and packages are slightly lower. Monday to Wednesday 9 am to 7 pm, Thursday and Friday 9 am to 8 pm, Saturday 8:30 am to 6 pm.
  • Use the late slots: on Thursdays and Fridays we are open until 8 pm, perfect after work. On Saturdays the salon opens at 8:30 am.
